Misguided Monster

Darn it. And here I was, thinking I was all cool and original, making up this monster werebunny thing, getting all proud of myself for coming up with such a cool, random killing machine that still manages to somehow be a little cute, and it turns out I didn’t make it up after all.

See, I’ve had this guy stuck in my head for MONTHS now, and just needed to get him out of there before I went insane. I think he was initially generated from my early, misguided ideas of what “youkai” entailed. ( Youkai from Saiyuki, yanno? The demon monster-y guys? Well for some reason this is what my brain pictured when I first got wind of them back in the day, before I was actually smart enough to read the manga and figure out what youkai actually entailed. I R stoopid. )

So I was sitting at my computer colouring this guy, and my brother pops in and is like “I’ve seen that guy before!” And I stopped and looked at it and realized that outside of the fact that it’s been living in my brain all these months, he DID look kind of familiar. So we both kinda just sat there sitting at the computer for a few minutes, trying to figure it out ( “Is it from a movie?” “I think so…” “Like… a cartoon movie…?” “I’m not sure… maybe?” ) and then all of a sudden my brother was like “THE SCOOBY DOO MOVIE!” and I was like “YES! THAT’S IT … oh wait… DARN IT!”

So that is my amazing story of woe and discovering that my brain inadvertently stole the freaking Scooby Doo monster to extremely incorrectly portray a youkai. Only I could be this stupidly weird.
